05/05/17 - Nestle rewards Lyreco germany

Barsinghausen, 28/04/2017: For the third time in a row, Nestlé honoured its best suppliers for their exceptional performance at its Suppliers’ Day event, held in Frankfurt on 21 April. At the ceremony, Lyreco Deutschland GmbH was presented with the Bronze Award 2017, thereby achieving an exceptional 3rd place out of all Nestlé suppliers.

 Under the motto “creating quality together”, the issue of sustainability was a key focus of the awards. The three best suppliers were presented with gold, silver and bronze awards for their active support of Nestlé’s programme targeting responsible procurement. Beatrice Guillaume-Grabisch, CEO of Nestlé Deutschland, presented the winners with their awards. The approximately 100 participants included representatives of suppliers in domains ranging from agricultural commodities to packaging materials, while members of Nestlé management and its purchasing organisation were also in attendance.

 The award for Lyreco Deutschland GmbH was received by Olaf Dubbert, Quality, Security and Sustainability Manager, and René Rodriguez, Strategic International Account Manager , who together accepted the award on behalf of the Lyreco team. “We are very proud to receive this award, which shows how successfully our sustainability measures can be implemented by customers”, said Olaf Dubbert.

 During the awards ceremony, Nestlé highlighted that Lyreco had made efforts on sustainable purchasing . For example, special filtering options have been implemented on the website in order to help Nestlé to select green products according to clearly defined sustainability criteria.In addition, through its own “Lyreco For Education” programme, Lyreco has supported access to education for children from the poorest backgrounds in developing countries, and has been a member of the UN Global Compact initiative for many years.

 Nestlé, the world’s largest food producer, aspires to be recognised as ‘number one’ in the field of nutrition, health and well-being. This is only possible if suppliers across the entire supply chain also commit themselves to similar high standards of quality. Through close collaboration with its suppliers, Nestlé seeks to exceed basic compliance requirements and, together with its partners, create processes that provide mutual added value from which all parties in the supply chain can benefit. For this reason, Nestlé Deutschland holds a Suppliers’ Day every two years and presents Supplier Awards, with which Nestlé recognises exceptional performances and contributions to the quality and sustainability of commodities and materials by its suppliers. “Against this background, the fact that we have been recognised as the third best of all suppliers to Nestlé Deutschland GmbH makes us proud and shows that our high service quality pays dividends”, said a delighted Marc Gebauer, Managing Director of Lyreco Deutschland GmbH.

Lyreco values its suppliers and unites them in a common dynamic.

On 16 March, Lyreco invited its main suppliers to Paris for its Group Suppliers Day. It was an opportunity to take stock of the company’s transformation with a message delivered personally by Group CEO Hervé Milcent.


In a changing market, Lyreco stressed its desire to become the preferred partner in the workplace environment and explained what it expects from its suppliers in the coming years.


“We also wanted to use the day to thank our suppliers. They're the pillars of the transformation we want to undertake, a transformation that is responsible, sustainable and digital, and we’re delighted to see that they've made the same commitments”, said Franck Suhit, Lyreco Group Marketing Director.


Then Nasser KAHIL, QSS director, summarized the principles of Lyreco sustainability study.

The day was also the opportunity for Lyreco to present awards recognising the best performances in strategic categories. The awards were given by evaluating products and services against criteria such as product availability, marketing support, environmental friendliness and customer focus.


The aim of the awards is to enable Lyreco's partners to assess their performance and introduce the necessary action plans.

The Lyreco Group rewards SCA for its sustainable development performance

The award, which was created in 2015, recognises suppliers who have a global approach to sustainable development and who place social responsibility at the heart of their strategy.

Since signing the UN Global Compact in 2002, Lyreco launched its Eco-Future strategy in 2012 - its global sustainable development strategy. The core message of this strategy is: “Being the benchmark for responsible workplace solutions”. Strong governance ensures that decision-making processes reflect a balance between the three pillars of Sustainable Development: Social, Environmental and Economic aspects are systematically analysed on the basis of their Risks and Opportunities for enhancing the Company’s sustainability and the good example that it sets.

Lyreco involves its suppliers in this process through its Sustainable Development Programme and focused assessments. “In partnership with our suppliers, we want to create shared values. “We are committed to collaborating with our suppliers who will help us to build a sustainable future," points out Hervé Milcent, Lyreco Group CEO.

By setting up these Awards, Lyreco is rewarding the best sustainable development performance based on results obtained in accordance with the ISO26000 standard in seven categories: Products, CSR Governance, Environment, Health and Safety, Social Responsibility, Supply Chain Management, and Business Ethics. The assessment is based on effective business between Lyreco and the supplier in relation to factories, Business Units and product categories.

In the 2016 edition, over 85 suppliers were assessed and the SCA Group won the Sustainable Development Award:

SCA is a leading global hygiene and forest products group. It develops and manufactures personal care and household tissue products as well as forest products in over 100 countries. This year, SCA received Lyreco’s Sustainable Development Award notably thanks to its development of an “eco-responsible” product range. In fact, 88% of the Lyreco Group’s sales with this supplier concern “green” products.

SCA has also implemented new CSR initiatives demonstrated by its recent commitment to the Circular Economy 100 Programme (CE100), which campaigns for the development of a circular economy. 

The two short-listed companies are:

Nestlé Waters, winner of last year’s assessment, stand out thanks to their coherent global CSR strategy. 

In this second edition, The Navigator Company has moved to third place thanks to its range of green products, which accounts for 75% of the Lyreco Group’s sales but also due to CSR developments implemented since the last assessment.

“The Lyreco Awards are both a recognition and an incentive for encouraging even greater commitment. By rewarding our best partners and setting out why they were nominated, we hope to encourage other suppliers to continue improving their sustainable development performance, and, at the same time, we are able to strengthen the Group’s CSR policy in the outside world in this way”, explains Nasser KAHIL, Group Quality, Security & Sustainability Director at Lyreco.

Lyreco scoops top honours in industry Oscars
Lyreco UK team picked up the Environmental Award at the 2016 British Office Supplies & Services (BOSS) Industry Awards last night on Oct 13th for the fifth time in a row!
The awards recognise and reward companies which demonstrate excellence and successful performance of their business. And the company was delighted that its strong sustainability ethos saw it clinch yet another national honour for being an environmental leader in its field.
The company, which as one of the biggest providers of workplace supplies in the UK is simplifying life at work for thousands of businesses across the UK, has introduced a company-wide five-year plan to minimise its impact on the environment.
Initiatives have included installing a roof mounted solar photovoltaic system – the fourth largest in the UK - at its National Distribution Centre in Telford, achieving zero landfill and reducing its electricity consumption by 39 per cent in four years.
It has also introduced an apiary on site to boost the country’s ailing honeybee population and a social auditing programme for all Lyreco branded products manufactured in developing countries covering social, human rights and health, safety and environmental conditions.
Manel Roura, Quality, Safety & Sustainability Manager at Lyreco commented, ‘Winning the BOSS Environment Award five times in a row shows that sustainability is embedded in everything we do. Over the five years we have been able to demonstrate that Lyreco develops activity to reduce the environmental impact in every step of the business. It is wonderful that this is recognised externally.”
Lyreco also picked up the Environment and Sustainability Award at the recent SHD Logistics awards 2016, which celebrate excellence in the logistics industry.

Christophe Chambre appointed Chief Operating Officer

CEO Hervé Milcent today announced the appointment of Christophe Chambre as Lyreco´s new COO.  Christophe Chambre has extensive experience with the Lyreco business both in his current role as European Managing Director and in his previous role as Managing Director of Lyreco France.
I feel very confident that Christophe will bring the right level of knowledge and drive to the role of COO” comments CEO Hervé Milcent.
The objective of the COO role will be organizing and driving Lyreco’s operational value proposition and accelerating the international sales strategy. Christophe Chambre will take full responsibility of his new role from February 2016 and report directly to the CEO.

Lyreco launches its new mobile app, putting more flexibility, adaptability and augmented reality into the hands of its clients/users

Managers are mobile and constantly connected with “right-now” becoming second nature to them. The new Lyreco mobile app responds to this by providing a unique link between paper catalogues and online stores allowing customers to perform their regular tasks in real-time whatever device they are connected to.

Still rare in the B2B sector, augmented reality is a great tool to deliver an improved product discovery experience for customers as well as allowing Lyreco associates to facilitate purchases by their clients

This app will be released across the world in all of the 26 countries of the Lyreco Group, beginning in early 2015.
